about

I didnt actually meet my best friend at a laundry mat...it was often at his place...or at a coffee shop...I recorded this track in 2011 sometime...the story goes I was actually trying to record a cover of an alkaline trio song...but me being me...it wasnt...so it turned into this...I found some old bongo drums I was given as a present when I was 16 so thought i would add those to a quit bit in this track...then i thought how about some hand claps...then I thought how about some maracas...non of these really turned out the best...but as they say its what it is...I wrote these lyrics whilst at work...over the years i have found that i write best when I am at work...i write quickly...so not to arouse suspicion from my work mates..."what are you scribbling"..."ahh nothing" I would say...I recorded rums on three seperate tracks at three differnt times due to my crappy shed computer lagging and making everything fall out of time...its often said i cant play to a click track and my timing is suspect anyway...but these were even noticable to my meager ear...this track was played a bit in the early days of datewiththeknife but when the change of sound came this tune got culled quite quickly...I wanted a wall of guitars in this tune...all up I believe there to be 6 rhythm guitar tracks and 4 lead guitar tracks...not that you can tell...meh, experimentation

lyrics

I met my best friend in a laundry mat
With hands undone and hair died bright black
She said if I was a painter
I could paint a landscape that captures winter
And smells like roll your own cigarettes
Tied up in a duffel coat carrying plastic bags
To broke and I am glue
If I was a writer baby
I would have scribbled a few lines over you
And drank too much over you
And fucked too much over you
Who broke and who needs glue

She broke and I am glue
I met my best friend in a laundry mat
